About Me

I graduated from The University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Music and a Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching (Secondary). I have studied piano with Singapore’s accomplished pianist, Timothy Ku and Sylvia Ng and also Australian pianists, Caroline Almonte and Janine Sowden. I have  learnt violin and viola from Ms Marietta Ku in Singapore and did the introductory Colourstrings Violin Teacher Training Course with Geza Szilvay and Yvonne Fry.

As a musician, I have performed with various orchestras in Singapore and Australia, such as the Singapore National Youth Orchestra and the Darwin Symphony Orchestra.

I am passionate about music education, especially the study of Music and the Brain, music psychology- especially in areas of coping with performance anxiety, and music education in early childhood. I have attained my teaching accreditation for KINDERMUSIK in 2023. I spent time studying, attending workshops and observing various teaching approaches in Piano and Orchestral Strings Pedagogy including the Kodaly, Suzuki, Dalcroze and Colourstrings method. I believe that the best approach in music education is the holistic approach to music education that caters to the learning needs, individual gifts, musical background and experience of the child. I have also a special interest in teaching music to students with learning needs.

I was a Head of Music and taught at various schools in regional Victoria. I am currently a classroom music teacher, Orchestra Strings and Piano Specialist Teacher at a Catholic College in Northern Territory, Australia. I also led and directed the College Orchestra.
